USRA is a private, nonprofit corporation founded in 1969 under the auspices of the National Academy of Sciences. Its current membership consists of 104 universities in the U.S. and abroad that have graduate programs in space-related sciences and/or engineering.
USRA focuses on space-related technical competencies with the goal of expanding knowledge and developing technology for the benefit of the academic community, space-related industries, and NASA's mission to "pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery, and aeronautics research".
Mission
USRA's mission is to advance the space-related sciences and exploration through innovative research, technology, and educational programs; to promote space policy; and to develop and operate premier facilities and programs by involving universities, the private sector, and governments for the benefit of mankind.
We accomplish this mission by providing a collaborative membership organization where universities and other research organizations may cooperate effectively with each other, with the United States government, and other entities to develop knowledge associated with space science and technology.
Our Values
USRA has a passion for space science exploration, and for people.
