AY 2008 Scholarship Recipients

The Universities Space Research Association is pleased to announce that the following students have been selected to receive one of USRA's scholarships this year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our scholarship selection committee.

USRA Memorial and Education Scholarships

  • Layne Price from Keller, Texas has been awarded the James B. Willett Memorial Scholarship. This fall, Layne will be senior at the University of Texas at Arlington majoring in Physics and Mathematics.
  • Mathew Buckner from Blairstown, New Jersey has been awarded the Thomas R. McGetchin Memorial Scholarship. This fall, Mathew will be a senior at Lehigh University where he is majoring in Physics with an emphasis in Astrophysics.
  • Aaron Hanks from West Frankfort, Illinois has been awarded the John R. Sevier Memorial Scholarship. Aaron will be a junior next year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Physics.
  • Hilary Greenfield is the recipient of a USRA Education Scholarship. Hillary is from West Orange, New Jersey. This fall, Hilary will be a junior at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University at Daytona Beach, Florida, majoring in Aeronautical Sciences and Human Factors.

John Mc Lucas Astronaut Safety Research Prize

USRA administers the John Mc Lucas Astronaut Safety Research Prize on behalf of the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation and the Space Shuttle Children's Fund for the purpose of studying and improving astronaut safety.
  • Joseph Yurko from Irwin, Pennsylvania has been awarded the John Mc Lucas Astronaut Safety Research Prize. John is a senior this year at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and will graduate in 2008 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering.
