Sheri Klug Joins USRA as the Undergraduate Student Research Program Manager

Columbia, MD, February 11, 2008 -The Universities Space Research Association (USRA) is pleased to announce that Sheri Klug has joined the association as USRA's program manager for NASA's Undergraduate Student Research Program (USRP). In this role Ms. Klug will lead an aggressive recruiting effort to draw in a talented pool of students from diverse backgrounds, will market the program widely to raise awareness of the USRP across the academic community, and will manage the program to ensure the highest quality experience for participating students.
Ms. Klug brings to this position a strong combination of NASA based educational experience and NASA Center technical workforce understanding coupled with skills that will provide focused vision and leadership for the USRP. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in earth science education with distinguished honors and a Master's Degree in Earth Science education, both from Boise State University. Ms. Klug has participated, in an educational or technical capacity, in every Mars mission since 1995. Ms. Klug developed and grew the Arizona State University Mars Education Program from a local to a national high profile NASA Mars education program through successful efforts bridging the NASA science and engineering technical communities and education communities.

NASA's Undergraduate Student Research Program, offers undergraduates across the United States mentored internship experiences at NASA Centers and research facilities. The program provides hand-on technical and research experiences with outstanding NASA mentors. Most students work on practical problems that will see real applications in aerospace or on future NASA missions.
