MyMoon: Engaging the Next Generation of Lunar Enthusiasts

In an effort to engage a population of new lunar enthusiasts - the population between 18 and 35 - USRA collaborated with lunar scientists, educators, artists, and the public to develop a lunar education new media portal, MyMoon. Through MyMoon, the general public is invited to interact with lunar content that will inform them about NASA's lunar science research and missions, and engage them in future plans for lunar exploration and eventual habitation. The site was released in August 2009 and continues to offer new lunar science content, media exhibits, events, and opportunities for involvement. Through this portal USRA's Lunar and Planetary Institute produces Moon-themed webcasts and also hosts blogs featuring the Moon in science, art, literature, and the news, contests, and polls.
