Dr. Suman Sinha Ray finished his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) followed by two years of postdoc in Mechanical Engineering (UIC). Currently he is working as a Lead Discipline Scientist of Soft Matter at NASA Glenn Research Center, where his responsibility ranges from developing soft matter research program for NASA for the next decade to performing fundamental research of soft matter physics. At a very high level, as a part of his responsibility, he leads NASA’s internal research activity in soft matter, maintain NASA’s relationship with external partner (e.g.- International Space Station, European Space Agency etc.) and work with different stakeholders to define research activity. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Till now, he has published 70 peer reviewed journal publications (h-index of 35 and i-10 index of 59), 4 invited book chapters and 13 patents. He has also co-advised 7 PhD students and 11 undergraduate students with their research work.
